Graphic Design

Design is an incredibly powerful tool that can help you differentiate your brand and break through the growing noise. Using a variety of industry standard design software, I will create multi-channel, digital and print visuals that will inspire and engage your audiences. In addition to design, I also assist with story development and messaging for any of the following:

  • Custom logos & brand identity packages (also see Brand Strategy & Development)
  • Stationery systems (business cards, letterheads, envelopes, notepads, etc.)
  • Presentations
  • Marketing collateral, event flyers, product brochures
  • Sales enablement materials and fundraising collateral
  • Website banners, social media graphics
  • Digital and print ads
  • Data visualization, informational graphics (including scientific figures for manuscripts and grants)
  • Print publications (annual reports, magazines, etc.)
  • Product packaging, labels
  • Event posters, trade show booth design
  • Email and print newsletters
  • Branded merchandise
  • And more…

EXAMPLES OF MY WORK

Advancing the Arts in Connecticut

I had the privilege of designing the case statement for the Florence Griswold Museum’s Inspiration Lives Here campaign—a $24.2M effort to expand the Krieble Gallery, enhance the visitor experience, and grow the Museum’s endowment. Rooted in FloGris’s rich history of art, nature, and place, the piece conveys a clear and compelling vision for the Museum’s next chapter. I worked closely with the leadership and design team to create a thoughtful, inspiring narrative that invites donors to join a transformational journey already backed by over $9M in early support.

Helping local businesses grow

A local Subaru dealership wanted to create collateral promoting new detailing services and vehicle rental business lines. In addition, the sales team had been struggling to explain their proprietary ‘Preferred Guest Package’ and the many levels of service recommended following the purchase of a new vehicle. Working within the Subaru master brand, I created a series of marketing sheets and pop-up banners, selecting new photos, writing compelling copy. I provided all final files and trained in-house marketing staff to handle printing and any necessary future updates. After printing several of the presented options, from safe to edgy, they found the example below best resonated with their customers and quickly ordered additional copies.

Branding a cultural nonprofit.

First as Marketing Director and later as Executive Director, I developed a new brand, design collateral and promotional video for the organization and its programs, and executed it across all print and digital touch points. Projects shown here include: posters for local marketing, and distributed to music and dance festivals, schools and organizations across the US and Canada; tri-fold brochure and postcard, distributed to music and dance festivals, schools and organizations across the US and Canada; and a comprehensive WordPress site with online payment system (WooCommerce) for course and housing registration, schedule selector, photo and video galleries, and more.

Tools for research & animal care

Of all the projects I worked on, I am most proud of the JAX® Mice Coat Color Guide. My challenge was to accurately and creatively visualize the genes influencing coat color. Originally created in 2008, this poster now hangs in research labs and mouse vivaria across the globe.  It is still distributed today. A companion piece to the Mouse Coat Color Poster, the poster below became a critical resource for animal care technicians to age mouse pups. Following a rebrand in 2013, the logo and fonts on both posters were updated.

Enhancing visitor experience

Throughout my career, I have crafted engaging exhibits and environmental displays, creating experiences that captivate and inform visitors and employees alike. From conceptualization to execution, I ensure each display communicates the intended message while deepening the connection to the organizational mission. Work shown includes: panels highlighting organizational locations for public tours and employee education; an expandable display recognizing retired faculty; back-lit panels for a built-in lobby display; dimensional art based on faculty research data; and exhibit panels for a history museum.
